The first ever known name for Belgrade was Singidunum and since the ancient Cetics and Romans crossed this terittory city became wellknown as The Door of the East and the Gate of the West. The Belgrade Victor, monument in the Kalemegdan Fortress built by sculptor Ivan Mestrovic. It is the most popular and the most powerful visual symbol of Belgrade.
